A combination of 16 schools and an education cooperative serving 16 districts make up the 17 recipients of over $255,000 in computer science grants.The Arkansas Department of Education’s Office of Computer Science announced Thursday the winners will receive funding through the Innovation in Computer Science School Grant Program.
The winners included Hackler Intermediate School, the recipient of a $20,000 grant, and the Northcentral Arkansas Education Service Cooperative at Melbourne. The cooperative serves 16 school districts in North Central Arkansas, including Calico Rock, Izard County, Mammoth Spring, Melbourne, Mountain Home, Mountain View, Norfork, Salem and Viola. The cooperative’s grant is for $25,000.
The 17 winners were selected from a total of 38 applicants based on proposals outlining efforts to expand their computer science program and implement innovative best practices.
